In the constant drive to provide its customers with products that are smaller, lighter, lower cost and more reliable, Plextek has amassed considerable experience of integrating designs within programmable logic devices.

This capability has been recognised by Altera, and led to Plextek being active within Altera's Certified Design Centre (CDC) program from its launch. The aim of the program is to bring together the best in programmable logic technology with the best in design service providers in order to reduce the customers time to market and provide them with cost effective products that enable them to successfully compete in their market. Plextek has experience of using a wide range of Altera's devices including the Excalibur range of embedded processor solutions. These devices combine logic, memory, and a processor core to allow engineers to integrate an entire system on a single device.

Through the CDC program Plextek provides extensive systems, project management, and technology skills to Altera device users. With the continuous pressure to handle increasingly complex designs in shorter timescales a rigorous design methodology is critical. Plextek uses leading edge design capture, simulation, and synthesis, tools to allow a design to be targeted at the most cost effective devices. Coupling this with, the use of HDL's and a philosophy of design for re-use, it protects the customer from obsolescence, and allows the design to be implemented in programmable logic for prototypes and low volume and then migrated to MPLD or ASIC as product sales increase.

Designs completed at Plextek include function blocks from simple digital interfaces to complex signal processing algorithms. For example -

Plextek has extensive system, DSP, RF, analogue, digital, software, and project management experience. This allows a customer to select the service level that best fits their requirements.
