Plextek's consumer electronics product design experience has included: Design of low-cost high volume security lights, design of universal remote controllers, design of microprocessor controllers for water softners and kettles, design of digital answer machines aswell as the design of many other high volume electronic consumer products.

Consumer Products

Plextek has undertaken the design of a wide range of electronic consumer products. We offer a complete product development life cycle, encompassing the design of software, electronics and mechanics through to manufacture. This approach is particularly advantageous for the development of consumer products where time to market, low bill of materials, production yields and factory test time are critical determining factors in the success of a product.

One of the benefits that Plextek offers in the design of electronic consumer products is experience in manufacturing process planning, which is introduced into the design process at an early stage. This helps ensure the development of a high quality product that can be manufactured with high levels of yield at a competetive cost. Processes are selected that offer the best fit with the chosen manufacturing facility ensuring a low bill of materials and fast production times. Universal Remote Controllers
A range universal remote controllers designed to replace multiple remote controllers for the TV, stereo, and video with a single unit.

Security Light
This security light used low cost micro-controllers to replace more expensive analogue circuitry. The microprocessor controls switching of lights when the homeowner is away.

Kettle Controller
Digital kettle controller offering boil control, 2 pre-set simmer levels and boil dry detection. Plextek developed the controller for the minimum bill of materials whilst offering enhanced performance.

Domestic Water Softener
The innovative design of this product won a DTI award for the electronics. An adaptive learning algorithm was used to select the optimum times for performing the softening cycle.

Digital Answering Machine
A stand-alone digital answer phone product with, voice prompts, remote access and different levels of voice compression and record time.

Cordless Phone
Over the past 5 years Plextek has developed a range of DECT cordless products. Each successive generation of products aims to provide a better range of features and a lower bill of materials.
