WIN Semiconductor appoints Plextek as approved third party design house
Issued 27/09/2007
Plextek, the Cambridge-based electronics and communications design
consultancy has recently been appointed as approved third party design
house by WIN Semiconductor. The move follows successful engagements
by Plextek with a number of clients using WIN's high performance GaAs
IC processes.
WIN offers a range of leading-edge processes, including 0.15µm
gate length PHEMT and InGaP HBT, and was the world's first 6-inch pure-play
GaAs foundry. Robert Donahue, VP of Sales and Marketing with WIN, commented,
"We needed an independent design house with extensive experience
of GaAs MMIC design on a wide range of processes, as well as proven
capability with using WIN's processes. Plextek meet all of these requirements
and have impressed us with their professionalism in dealing with WIN
foundry customers."
To date Plextek has designed over 30 full custom GaAs ICs, all of which
were first-pass design successes. Liam Devlin, Director of RF Integration
with Plextek commented, "The fact that WIN's processes use 6"
diameter wafers, combined with the ability to run a 4-shift system,
allows WIN to offer a truly mass production capability for GaAs MMICs,
which is very attractive to many of our existing and prospective clients.
We're very pleased that WIN has selected Plextek and look forward to
a long and fruitful relationship."
