Press Release
UK
company demos single GPRS + 802.11b PC card and previews multimedia handset
reference design at 3GSM World Congress
Visitors to this year's 3GSM World
Congress will be able to see, for the first time, a working demonstration
of 'Red Marvel', from the family of 'Marvel' GPRS-only and GPRS + Bluetooth
technology reference designs, all developed by UK electronics design consultancy
Plextek Ltd. Red Marvel combines a GPRS system with 802.11b technology to
provide a single PC card that is capable of wide area networking, in particular
high-speed wireless internet access, and also short-range wireless connectivity
to local devices such as printers, LAN access points and wireless headsets.
With tri-band GSM/PCS and 2.4GHz
ISM-band coverage, the design package is compatible with both cellular- and
ISM-band allocations throughout the USA and Canada, as well as in Europe.
As well as demonstrating Red Marvel,
Plextek will also show two other communications product reference designs
from its Marvel series. Visitors will have the chance to discuss Blue Marvel
- its GPRS/Bluetooth PC Card that supports connectivity to both GSM/GPRS networks
as well as Bluetooth connection to peripheral devices and wireless LANs. And,
in its very latest innovation, Plextek will preview a GSM/GPRS multimedia
handset reference design which can boast features such as; integrated digital
camera, large display colour touch screen, multimedia messaging, entertainment
services and more.
Plextek will be on stand number
G54. If you would like to speak to Plextek in advance of, or during, the Congress,
please contact Geoff Smithson on +44 (0)1799 533200.
